best year of 13b

Ok, im starting my project and im not sure which 13b i should go with. I know i want a 13b 4 port. either one of the old ones that come stock with 4 ports, or s5 n/a 13b with turbo housings. Im going to be going carbed as i just dont have the funds to go with a FI turbo setup. Maybe in the future i will, but for now i want a carbed setup for easy and cost. Anyway, what year 13b is the best? i want to make 200hp off a 13b with a large streetport, performance carb and a free flowing exhaust. is that possible?
thanks for any help guys.

if 200 HP is your goal, then it matters very little which engine you start with. a well-tuned streetport 13B of any vintage will make 200 pretty easily (with a carbie).

however, the later, lighter, higher compression motors ('86-'88 and '89-'92) will obviously be a more desirable choice since it'll be easier to attain your goal, slightly more responsive and arguably more efficient.

if all you want is 200 hp, i'd go with an 89-91 non-turbo engine. they have the highest compression and should yield the best throttle response and torque for that goal.

here's a very general rule that shouldn't be followed:
(listen to what i said--then try to figure out what i meant :p)
n/a motors: the higher the compression the better.
turbo motors; the lower the better
