Best sidedraft carb setup for a 13b?

Hi all,

I am putting a 13b into my datsun 510. I am still quite new to the rotary engine but have been doing alot of reading on it.

Anyone here have a 13b carb setup?

I want to go with a sidedraft setup because this car is going to see alot of road racing and autoX time.

Also, What kind of intake would I need to be looking at?

The 13b is going to be a streetport setup on a freshly rebuilt motor. I am hoping for 220ish-250ish HP so I will need a carb that will flow enough for that.

Also, while I am here, what kind of clutch do you guys favor? This car will see some drag strip time as well so I will need one that will be able to take a little bit of abuse.

Thanks for everything!

Neil

if you are going to be doing a lot of road racing / autox, then you may want to look into a down draft rather than a side draft. grab yourself a weber 48 ida.

also, with just a street port, donot expect those numbers. 220 bhp is possible, which will only show you 175-180 to the wheels.

yeah ... i'm kinda curious as well. what's the correlation between racing and side drafts?
anyway ... i second the motion on going with a downdraft Weber ... i'd say on the motor you're planning go with a 51 IDA ... but i guess it's going to depend on if you're buying new or used. while 250 is possible (it's pretty much the outer limits of big streetports) i would advise settling on something in the 215-230 hp range because you'll keep a lot more of the drivability you'd lose by going for BIGGER numbers.

just a tip - concentrate on a good weight reduction plan for your racing to compensate for the HP.
