Best Oil/Fluid for differencial and transmission?

Best Oil/Fluid for differencial and transmission?
I would like to switch to synthetics for the tranny and rear diff. But I'm having trouble picking the best lubricants. I'm thinking royal purple should work well but I'm unsure of which type to use and what viscosity to use. Any advice?
