Before I weld a nut to a broken bolt...
I just wanted to know if I weld a nut to a broken bolt seized in the water pump while it's still all put together on the engine, will this fry anything electrical on the engine, like the computer? The type of welder is either MIG or TIG, I am borrowing it and haven't received it yet. I am also going to try to get the owner of the welder to do it, since I have almost no experience welding.
Just wanted to know if there are any precautions that I need to take. Any help would be appreciated.

if you've never welded before, get the owner of the welder to do it, you have a much greater chance of success that way.
it shouldn't fry anything. Most welders operate at like 16V anyways.

TIG is the best - but it works fine with even a flux core wire feed.
This is the best method of stud extraction ever devised. I've never not had it work - even if I had to make a few attempts.
If the stud is broken off nearly flush - you will need to build up the material first before putting the nut on.
