Auto To Manuel tranny swap

How much can i buy a 3rd gen tranny for, and how much would it cost to swap it in place of an auto? Could i just swap in another tranny with very similar gear ratios? Say a tremac 3550 or tko or even a t-5

Thx But would a domestic tranny fit in its place? how hard would it be to fab this, has any1 done this?
