Any way to reduce play/wiggle in my shifter

Noticed in my fd that my shifter has quite a wiggle to it. Decided I would try eliminate that first and ended up replacing all the shifter bushings. However I didn't replace some of the ripped lower rubber shift boots. Even though it's not as wobbly it's still pretty noticeable. Is this due to the rubber shift boots need replacing too?
Thanks

No, the play is not a result of the soft rubber boot but being worn out.

If that doesn't help, you have a problem with your transmission somewhere. I would start with the shift select spindle and return spring
