alternator wires where do they go

Hi

I have an 87 turbo, with some electrical issues. Currently, the alternator has two wires I'm not sure how to connect.
I have:

Black with white stripe
White with black stripe

These two wires have been disconnected from their original connector dealies, and now I've got to get them back to the right places. The main problem with this, is that the connector going into the alternator has two different colored wires: brown and green. These may be aftermarket, or just chickenshit-jobbed. Since I don't want to blow anything up, or get me a Car-B-Que situation, I'd like to know which of my two wires go where in that connector.
It's a two-pin connector, with one tall and one long. If someone could please specify for me, which of the two wires go nearest the clip on said connector, it'd be greatly appreciated, as I'd then be able to figure out (by process of elimination) where the other wire goes.

Thanks!
