Alternative Ways of Releasing Fuel Pressure
Hey there everyone! Another noob coming to the guru's for advice. Im working on a partially-disassembled 1988 GXL. It has a blown coolant seal, so the process of removing the engine from the car has begun. Unfortunately before the car was parked and was torn into, we forgot to release the pressure from the fuel system. I've gotten to the point where I need to take the fuel lines off and I'm not sure how to depressurize the system without running the car. Anyone have any experience with alternative ways of going about this? Is it possible to somehow use the FPR to accomplish this? Thanks for the help! Sorry if this has already been answered. I searched around for a while but wasn't able to find anything. Still pretty new to the site!

Just undo a clamp, and Carefully pull a rubber line off and USE a RAG(or two)..it will release pressure on it's own.
If you undo the line that comes from the fuel filter UP to the engine and the Line that Returns from the engine to the Firewall(tank return) they are both rubber lines,so you should have no problem to get at them and relieve pressure If it still exists.

Also open the gas cap so the tank depressurizes. If you do that only a bit of fuel will come out. Just be ready to jam a bolt into the fuel line and catch any excess with some paper towels.
