alt question

I have an 87 N/A and I want to get my alt rebuilt or can I put a more powerful one on it from an fd ? Has anyone done this ? If so can I get instructions on what i need to change.

get it rebuilt and just have them upgrade it, much
easier just to put in bigger brushes...

Thats what I was thinking of doing . How much can the amps be brought up ? Its 70 now Id love to have 100?

Does anyone have any links that tell me how an alternator works? howstuffworks.com doesn't have any articles on it.
