It almost starts - 87 RX7 2nd gen
The 1987 RX7 GXL - 2nd gen which I bought for $5 is almost running., but not quite. The car did sit for 5 years so I'm not expecting it to fire right up.
The main problem was that the fuel pump was clogged before, so i cleaned the tank and got a new pump.
Today we tested all the lines, took apart the fuel rail, took apart and sprayed the injectors.
The engine combusts with ether starting fluid in it, but will not get going. Small puffs of cold slightly white smoke comes out of the exhaust.
We checked for spark and it is getting some. The spark plugs are working. The engine looked flooded at one point when we checked the plugs and I did pull the relay/fuse for the efi injectors to make sure if it was flooded it would pass through.
Once we took apart the fuel rail and cleaned the injectors we could not really test the injectors as they would not stay in the fuel rail.... we did however run them dry for a few seconds to make sure that they were opening.
Any hints/ideas/ suggestions?

Ok, just looked at it again.... the coils arent sparking right now (weird ground issues?) I'm testing them with screwdrivers in the wires close 2 a ground; earlier they were arcing.
Thanks for the advice., but I already electric metal brushed the plugs to look brand shiny new. I also ran a compression test before buying the car... and even without the pressure gauge I can tell that the seals liked that heavier oil i put in it as the air volume sounds huge now.
O, and I went ahead and did a ground test on the engine. 13.xx volts right near the plugs.
Any more ideas? I'm cruizing the board for weird ignition stuff. Thanks again.
