This promises to be a large gathering of Mazda owners - who is planning on attending?

For All MAZDA Owners & Enthusiasts Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington (DC) www.mscw.com presents the 7th Annual East Coast Rotary & Roadster Car Exposition TM Sunday, Labor Day Weekend, September 2, 2001 (Rain or shine)
WHO: All Mazda owners and enthusiasts (all models)
WHAT: One of the largest Mazda events for 2001, especially for those residing in the eastern half of the USA. Sponsored by the Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington, Inc. (www.mscw.com)
WHEN: Sunday, September 2, 2001, 10:30AM – 9:00PM
WHERE: All activities at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), Danville, VA
ACTIVITIES: MAZDA CAR SHOW: Best in Class will receive the SILVER ROTOR or SILVER PISTON TROPHIES. Second and Third Place Winners will receive plaques. Eligible Mazda Vehicles include: all Mazda Rotary Models, Miatas, Mazda Sedans, Coupes, Vans, Trucks and SUV's. Watch for car show updates, depicting registration forms, car show judging procedures and pictures of the trophies and plaques
PARADE LAPS: Drive the entire 3.3 mile VIR racecourse, starts at 11:00AM
VENDOR DISPLAYS: Aftermarket participants, door prizes are all being firmed up. Prizes to be posted online.
AUTOCROSS: Sunday afternoon, awards for best in class, $10 fee afternoon of autocrossing CLUB CORRALS: Mazda Car Clubs from all over are encouraged to attend and set up their own car club corrals with their banners and club memorabilia.
TECHNICAL SEMINARS: Mazda high-performance tuning shops or businesses on hand to promote their products and services during the event, as well as to offer tech support and information.
MAZDA RACE TEAMS: Team Spencer Motorsports, will be on hand with three racecars: ARGO -- JM19 built in 1987, a 2 rotor Camel Lights car that was modified to Jim Downing specifications. Downing competed in this car in 1987-1989, winning Camel Lights Championship in 1987. This car competed in the Panasonic colors in 1988. It is currently competing in HSR. DG3 -- This 3 rotor powered Kudzu chassis was designed by Dave Lynn and John Green in the early 90s as a Camel Lights car. After competing for 1 year in Camel Lights, this car was converted to an open top WSC car. Wayne Taylor won the first WSC Championship in 1994. It raced in LeMans in 1995 finishing 7th overall. After competing in France the DLM was shipped to a museum in Japan. Upon its return to the US, it was converted back to a Camel Lights car. It is currently competing in HSR. DLM -- Dave Lynn and John Green designed this Kudzu also. This 3 rotor debuted at the 1996 Daytona 24 Hour finishing 3rd overall. Designed specifically for LeMans, it won class in 1996. This car also claimed 8th place at Sebring. Currently competing in the Grand American Racing Association. In Grand Am’s debut season, the DLM finished second overall and was on the podium for all 8 races. In 2001 the #62 finished first at The Six Hours at the Glen for the second year.
GUEST SPEAKERS: Barbara Beach, Publisher of Miata Magazine and Ragtops & Roadsters Magazine, will be one of the Guest Speakers at the Sunday evening dinner event. Mazda North American Operations executives and other Mazda related personalities will be available over the weekend and at Sunday night dinner, announcements to follow as they are confirmed. SUNDAY EVENING DINNER/PRESENTATIONS: Sunday evening dinner with speakers, awards and presentations, at the VIR pavilion. EVENING HEADQUARTERS: Most Mazda participants will be staying at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Danville, VA (804) 793-2000, 11 miles west of the track on Rt. 58. Group rates are $65 plus tax. RnRCE participants will need to mention "Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington" to receive this group rate. Other hotels in Danville, VA include the Holiday Inn Express at (804) 793-4000 and the Hampton Inn at (804) 793-1111.
EXPOSITION FEE: $5.00 per car to cover part of the VIR facility costs
