Angry 1987 rx-7 GXL problems

Hi,
i just got this car, and when i try to start it, thers a gurgling sound in the coolant system, and when i finally get it started (takes bout 30min. worth the work and some luck), it overheats after a bit, but runs really nice.

from what i've read, the problem may be compression, gas's could be getting into the cooling system, causing it's overheating, from a bad apex seal?

i'm pretty new to rotary engines, i have an '83 LE and an '86 coupe and '87 GXL, gotten all of these within 2 weeks, the '86 is a parts car, but the '87 is really nice, just this engine problem, so any input would be great.

pressure test the cooling system. does it loose any coolant? does it blow lots of steam out the tailpipe?

well the system gets pressurize in about 10seconds, i had the car running about 10sec., and i popped the cap off to see if it was flowing, huge burst of antifreeze came gushing as me, soaked me....that stuff sucks in your eyes...! doesn't seem to blow any steam out the tailpipe, but a lot of exhaust (maybe some steam?) comes out when i shift. and yeah it overfills the overflow tank, and blows coolant out of it, lose's quite a bit...
