13brew - time to rebuild? Carbon buildup on rotors.

Hi all,
looking for some opinions regarding the carbon buildup in my engine, might be re-building soon.

Recently went non-sequential and noticed a good amount of carbon buildup on the rotors after pulling off the turbo’s.
Housings and seals appeared to be ok but I think the cause of this was from my old set being blown..

I know steam cleaning is a possibility but, I’d prefer to rebuild over this winter before things get worse and I need to start buying irons, rotors and etc.
Motor is at 142,xxx km’s and to my knowledge isn’t the original, but can’t confirm.

Tldr: is it worth rebuilding now before things get worse? If so just looking for recommendations on what seals and mild street port template some would recommend. Cheers.

totally subjective, is it an original engine? if so i'd rebuild it to ditch the 3 piece seals, if it has been rebuilt, rebuilding it again isn't any guarantee. a decarb could clean out the engine without rebuilding it.

Yup... I'd feed the engine a gallon of distilled water before resorting to a rebuild, unless there are other indications that its time for a rebuild:

Are you having hot start issues?

Are you having water seal issues?

Have you noticed any increased amounts of blowby during normal driving?

Etc., etc.

You'd be surprised how much steam cleaning and/or water injection can help!!

That's what I'm unsure of. It's a jdm car with no background history on it unfortunately.
This is why I'm debating a rebuild.. clean everything up / throw new seals in before I have to buy irons or rotors.
Peaking at 14.5psi on new setup and not sure how current seals will hold up over time.

No issues at all other than old turbo's failing.
I've noticed since swapping them out though that on all cold starts it will burn a decent amount of oil for about 2-3 seconds, also under heavy load. Which didn't happen as often before hand.
