I have a 80 rx7 with the original 12a engine,i had someone that "knew" what they were doing strip my carb and do the rats nest delete,after it warms up it will idle at about 750rpms which leads me to believe comression isn an issue,but will not start back up after i shut it off for about 20 min,i think something was missed while stripping the carb,the fuel levels in the float bowls are fine also
