12a RX-7 oil cooler leak fixed?

I have an 82 gsl RX-7 that was leaking where the hoses meet the cooler. I tried a couple things but nothing worked and I thought I would have to get new lines. Then my cousin had the idea to just take the copper washers that sit between the lines and cooler out and tighten it down. Amazingly it worked and hasn't leaked sinse. We did this about 4 months ago. Should I have not done that or is it ok? Thanks for the help guys!

^ LOL imagine that, eh?

seriously though, i would have used a new washer, but if it's not currently leaking leave it alone. save your worrying for the next problem.

I was planning on using new washers but of course didn't have any and needed the car out of the pit so back together it went. Doesn't anyone else think that taking out the one thing that supposed to seal it, and it then stops leaking weird?
