These tyres drive well. Much quieter than R888's, and while the sidewall stiffness is noticeable over rough tarmac it isn't harsh. Happy chappie!!

6 Wrapped!! Tyres on ... just in the process of procuring shoulder bolt sets for these wheels. No-one makes them any more so will have to Loctite shoulder lugs onto studs to make bolts.

Kumho V70A semi-slicks ordered - 215-50 x 13. Very hard to get a decent 13" tyre nowadays, but these are reasonably priced and get good reviews. Looking forward to fitting the set next week ... watch this space!

5 Job done. Scrubbed down with GP Thinner and a toothbrush to remove all traces of polish. Masked up, then etch primed. Two coats of metallic charcoal paint followed by one clear coat. Spoke faces were to be stripped back to polished aluminium like original, but with this finish in the sunlight there's a cool shadow-chrome effect. Touch-ups done, baked in the kitchen oven ... Job done!!

4 Refinishing Part 2. After the scotchbrite, more rubbing. Now rubbed down with 800 grit, then 1200 grit before polishing to a shine with Meguiars Mag and Aluminium Polish

1 The beginning. Not bad shape for the age, but all wheels had different colour paint and paint condition. $1600 or more for reconditioning, so DIY!
