I'm going to strip my baby down to bare metal and fix / rebuild as much as possible. The main goal is the engine but when doing all of that I might as well take care of the rest too! I'm a geek, I have no fear in figuring things out. I have next to zero automotive experience but I did change the oil on my wife's Tahoe recently and I've taken off bumpers to replace headlights in my stupid Prius. Start to build a collection of tools too! :)
