Thumbs up hks twin power installation

so you plug the harness into the unit and then the other 2 connections go into the leading connectionson the coil

RX-Revin: simple install - 5-15 minutes

1) locate the connector under the elbow behind the power steering fluid reservoir. unplug it. (this can be done without removing the elbow if you have small hands like me). If you want to verify you got the correct connector, wire colors are indicated here: http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/t...r_install.html

2) plug the HKS twin power connectors "inline" between the two connectors you just unplugged. Plug the other end of the hks twin power connector into the twin power itself

3) ground the twin power, mount the twinpower

4) turn your ignition key on, but not to start, verify the twin power red LED lights up

5) start the car and go!

booooom, you just added 10 hp at the top end and smoothed out the high rpm breakup! wheeeee...moding is fun!

damn, too much coffee this morning!

I just bought one (HKS twin power) from a guy that never used it but plugged it in. He clipped the 4 wires off the main harness. 2 yellow a red and a white...did they have connectors on them.? where did they go (plug into)..?

Okay, I had to pull out my stupid instructions but this is what it says.

The Red wire is your 12 volt ignition source.
The White wire is for your leading coil.
The 2 Yellow are for each of the trailing coils.

Does it matter which yellow wire goes to which trailing coil..?
Thanks I really appreciate it...If you move back here e-mail me and I'll buy you a cold one.

I believe they run 400.00 new...They amplify your spark which gives you more hp...

I bought the wiring harness with mine so I didn't splice into mine, but from the diagram, it does not matter. I will take a closer look at it later tonight(I'll trace wires)and I'll post what I find.

Here are some shots from my installation.

Where I put it.

Top down view. Note the washers added

Here is a view of the Twinpower harness attached, the unit connector is going to the left (loose)

Later close up with unit connector heading back towards unit

back from the dead!
I just installed mine that I bought used from patfat (THANKS!!). I used heavy duty velcro to stick it under the brake master cylinder just on top of that bolt hole in the bottom right side of the pic.

first driving impressions (25 min drive):

it's a lot smoother, I can't tell of a power difference because I keep changing boost levels (8psi regular driving, 13.5 fun driving) but overall throttle response, idle and all through the rpm range it feels a lot smoother.

The biggest difference I noticed is that now my car doesn't pop on decceleration at all, even after a hard run on boost.

Please, someone tell me, does this thing work for break-up above 14 psi. I just went thru the AEM piece of **** thing, and I want my next $400 to go to solving the problem. Sorry about invading your thread.

from HKS site:

The Twin Power ignition amplifier incorporates both the CDI and transistor method ignition to provide optimum spark duration and maximum voltage output, resulting in crisper throttle response and a smoother engine powerband. The CDI method, capacity discharge ignition, provides maximum voltage by transferring all stored energy in the capacitor to the ignition coil so that the ignition current can buildup quickly, thus making the Twin Power very effective in the higher revs where a normal spark would tend to diminish. This strong rapid spark prevents the high rpm ignition miss that reduces peak power. The transistorized method generates high voltage by using transistors to cut off current to the coil, thus allowing for a long energy discharge. This longer spark duration allows the Twin Power to improve lower RPM throttle response and torque. The combination of the CDI and the transistor method incorporates two distinct systems into one high performance unit, hence the designation of Twin Power. The Twin Power produces a spark output that is typically 1.5-2.5 stronger than of the stock ignition system and consumes about 35% less power input than other ignition amplifiers. Each compact and attractive Twin power unit is constructed of durable anodized aluminum and sealed to prevent corrosion from moisture. General wiring harnesses are included in each unit to aid in installation and mounting. Vehicle Specific wiring harnesses are also available for certain models to further aid in installations that require intricate integration.(CARB E.O. # D-186-22)

Are you sure your that its not your secondaries opening @ partial throttle creating the stumble.. We had to play my fuel maps to get it right on the street after my dyno tune.

You mean by "breaking up" actually "stumbling" The car would feel like the old 3k hesitation problem everyone used to talk about but magnified.. This would definately be the injectors opening. What 2nds are u running?
