I got a Notchy shifter
I got a Notchy shifter
It feels notchy from 1st to second, and I mean it feels funny, but it's okay after that....It seems to have started yesterday(march 12) what causes it? should i put somemore oil inside or just change the bushings?
Join the club buddy! This is a notorious problem that plagues many of us. The synchro rings start to give trouble after many miles particularly the 2nd and 3rd gear synchros. I believe people have been able to get rid of some of the notchiness by using Redline gear oil. I myself have not used it, so I won't swear by it.

I installed new shifter bushings, and Royal Purple 85w Tranny oil, and most of the notchiness went away. To completly fix the problem, you gotta rebuild it!!

I have a very loose shifter and was thinking about getting new shifter bushings, where did you get yours, and were they as easy to install and you would think?

Get Amsoil, it's the best stuff on the market. If you don't know where to find it LOOK, I don't know where it is, my friend is a distrubutor, it's better than redline, and the price shows, it's $7.50 a bottle and it takes 5 bottles to fill a turbo tranny. This is worth every penny in my opinion, nothing but the best for my baby
Redline MT-90 or 75w-90NS and your notchy first and second gear problems should go away.
Oh BTW, that crap about Scamsoil being better than Redline is a lie created by a biased test done by the manufacturers of Scamsoil to sell more Scamsoil.
