I feel your pain. Mine blew just this month. I know for a fact that the guy I bought it from barely drove it.

Also, what are some reputable rebuilders. I've been hearing good things about Pineapple. I've also been hearing that Mazda has some brand new crate engines.

if your patient you can find a running motor
for 600 and less as cheap as 200 on thepartstrader.com
sometimes
then you can sell the car running

I ran a bit lean on my motor less then 5k
My fault boosting to high
but it seems to only have broken a apex side piece
no biggie
open up and patch

maybe a bride port this time

Helps I do most my own work

I'm confused? NA that blew @ 32K miles? Did he just not change the oil or ran it hard during the break in period?

Which model do you have?

I have a GXL and I did oil every 2500 miles...I bought it with 21,000 miles on it about 8 months ago.
And the person before me who owned it was a 35 year old lady who had the interior coverd with cloth and covered when she didnt drive it.
She was the orignal owner.
Yea I dont have time man I need a car ASAP!

1400? that is way to much for a used N/A motor

400-600 is what you want to pay for a used NA motor

Thank god I do my stuff

It's the miles before you had it that are important. There were cases of 1st gens which sat for long periods of time and the seals would start to deteriorate. The motor would run fine for as long as a year and then the seals would fail.

$2,000 at the most, its got low miles and its a Series5 thats the only reason you'd get $2000

I had an offer of $1500 for my TII with all mods including $500 stereo, 81,000mi.

When they don't run, they aren't worth much

Yo,

I don't like this thread of low mileage NA RX-7's blowing their motors!! Since I bought my car with 38,000 miles on it...but now she's at 60K so I think it'll be alright. If it hasn't blown yet, it'll never blow. *grin* I redline the car every time I drive it, and I mean every time.

Best of luck getting it fixed. What were the exact circumstances? Regardless of what anyone says, don't rev your NA past 8400-8500 rpm. There's a good chance it'll go "Pop!"

Damn, I know how that is. The previous owner of my car had it stowed away for 5 years. The engine ended up going bad on it 9 months after I bought it. I've tried to sell it since it's very clean, but no one's gonna pay anything more than $1k for a car that does not run. It doesn't even help that mine's an AE. According to www.kbb.com, a 10th AE compared to a '91 N/A in similar condition has close resale value. Honestly, it's a far stretch you will get anything more than $1k escpecially since it's an N/A, but maybe the right person will come along...

Oh well, mine's been sitting since last September. I can't sell it so all the more reason for me to save up and get her back on the road.
