Here are some new pics of my car. I had my car painted back in Feb 02 still doesn't look bad for a $500 maaco job.

Looks pretty good for the money you paid. How many coats did they do and how many clear coats? I hear some maaco paint shops do better jobs than others.

Not too bad. Come back in a year My work has all our trucks painted by maaco... Every single one of them fade after a year.

Thats the reason for my post. I am even surprised. This February will be 2 years. To be honest I haven't waxed it either.

 

doesnt maaco offer warranties on their paint jobs? Or are they only on certain package deals?

 

The base I just bought had a MAACO "paint" job doen in APR 2002 ( I have the receipt). It is already DEAD. Streaking Chalking , lack of shine.

 

ok this is the deal with maaco, the more u pay the better the paint job, how much did you pay for this paint job?, if it lasted this long then it must of cost a good amount of money, also do you keep the car indoors? there are many factors to why a paint job will last. not just who did the work...

 

I park the car on the road where the pic was taken. no shade. paid $506 in February 2002. never waxed. usually washed once a week

now on that note.. say your paint job is going crappy.. have maaco do a spray right before you sell your car.. not the nicest thing to do but hey you will most likely get your money out of the paint job.

*edit* also be kinda nice if you got a full kit for the car and didn't feel like running around in primer till you could afford a good paint job

 

How many coats of paint did they use and how many clear coat paints? This could be the reason why it still looks good or why some others have had bad experiences with maaco.

They did prep and everything I had dings removed from both doors and a dent on the pass side rocker panel for the $506. I will check my receipt for how many coats and if there is a warranty.

 

Didnt notice the 02 part Was yours black on black? If so that might be why our trucks are showing their fade. Its lime on top of OEM white paint. Doubt the company pays them to do more than one coat of paint.

I had Macco do my 89 and repair door dings as well as small dent in front driver side fender. Paid $ 874 in Jan. 2003 and the paint is holding up fine. The car was repainted the original white. It's not perfect, but for my son to drive in college it has been fine. We put 17inch wheels and Hancook Ventus tires that really set it off. For a daily driver refresh paint job I was pleased.

 

they messed up on mine bad at 1st, they said it was done b4 it was even close, so i forced em to make my body on my car perfect or we would file a lawsuite, now i have a competition show car

 

O yea, they even tripple coated all my fender wells in black, with rubber paint. i never drive it in rain, and i wax it all the time, looking better every month.

I heard that maaco doesnt usually primar the cars, and thats why it usually turns out pretty shitty. One of my friends had primared his and took it to maaco and its been very nice for the past year, no fading or chipping or anything. Im even considering maacoing it up. **** as long as it lasts me a year next year ill do a better not half *** paintjob.

 

My car is at Maaco right now. I'm having them fix a few dings, and get a full repaint. I guess lots of other Maaco's are of shitty quality, but the one around here seems to have a pretty good reputation. My dad got his car painted 3 or 4 years ago by them, and it was still perfect up to the day he sold it a few weeks ago. I'm more worried about them taking it out for a spin than I am worried about them messing up the paint, lol. When we got our estimate, the guy called a few guys over to check out the car and they were all oooing, and aaaaing, lol

 

ya I work at a bodyshop and we do alot better work then maaco. They dont sand the bumpers down so the paint wont crack. And they use shitty paint. A paint job from us will last alot longer, but also cost alot more. That paint job does look good though.

 

Yea, you get what you pay for, and since many FCs are project cars, seems like Maaco is the way to go. If I owned an FD, I would get a really nice paintjob if it needed it (god knows if I could own an FD that I would have the money for a good paintjob, lol)
