First let me say that i would of searched for information before but didnt come up with much from what words i used in the search.

My situation is that i might be in a posistion to fly somewhere to see a car and if everything is good i will drive it back. The drive is about 6 1/2 hours. The Car has 500 miles on a new engine and i was hoping you guys could through some tips out there as to what i should bring along for the ride home to make sure nothing bad happens. Any and all help would be greatly greatly appreciated. TIA

You won't be allowed to bring tools (metal) on the plane, so that's out. I would buy some oil and a gallon of distilled water for the trip back. Hopefully, you won't need either. Bring some music to listen to on the long drive home. Some energy bars, and some No Doze would be good too. If you have AAA, bring the card. You might have to get towed.

Also, check on break in procedures from the people that rebuilt the engine. It may not be good to drive it at the same speed for a prolonged period.

A cell phone and your insurance card...

If you really want to take some distilled water, that would be fine but anything else is really overkill. You aren't going to be on the side of the road wrenching on it if something happens, you'll be calling a tow service.

 

Take some oil and have it changed before you are on your way along with some distilled water also. Also on the way back take your wallet out of your pocket, unless you wanna be lopsidded and hurt after 30 mins of driving.

 

cash or credit card.....**** breaks all the time. oh yeah a cell phone and a towel to wipe the drool when you hear the turbos spoolin. oh yeah, a dirty mag...it awfully gets lonely on a six hour drive.

Well unless the car is at a venue much like the one in the movie Deliverance, I would'nt worry too much about what to take with you. I'd take a cell phone, camera and a voice recorder for notes in case you don't buy. Make sure when you call to get directions you don't hear banjo music in the background!!l Good Luck.

 

I drove mine from NC all the way to Miami. Other than the uncomfortable seats you should be fine. Check all fluids before you leave and thats bout it. MOST IMPORTANT REMOVE YOUR WALLAT. Its an *** saver!

 

Bring a pillow or towel, the stock seats dont give any lumbar support and your lower back area really starts aching after more than 1 hour or so. I had a kinda thin bed pillow that I put behind my back for the drive from LA to Seattle and i made it pretty comfortable 1200 miles only stopping for gas all the way until 7:00in the morning baby!

 

That's a long drive. I thought my drive from Portland to San Luis Obispo was a long one (900 miles).

Well if it is a modified car with full exhaust take some ear plugs because the noise will drive You carzy driving that far.

 

A Titanium Credit Card with a $100K limit, old whiskey, a young hooker, the new Randy Travis CD, your AAA and Ritz Carlton Club membership cards and a new set of Michelins. That's all you'll need. Oh yeah, and some diaper wipes (chicks dig 'em for fast and furious clean ups) and a bottle of Ibuprofen.

That's MY definition of a good road trip.

 

rent a trailer and tow it back, that way you won't put the miles on the car, and won't be worried about bring anything.

 

thanks for everyones imput. The car is fairly stock, and i figure the drive will also help with the break in. I have also just looked in threads about breakins and how to vary speeds and rpms so ill be sure to def do that. The reman came from Malloy and then reliabilty and porting was done by KDR. The owner says the 500 mile break in was the time to really take it easy and its beyond that now, but ima still baby her for a while longer.
