I'm heading to Sac Raceway tonight to see what the True Duals are all about. Is it hype? Is it tight?

We'll soon see!

Best I've done before the duals was 16.04. Will I dip into the 15's?! The high 14's?! Tune in to find out!! *snicker*

Anyways, throw out your guesses and I'll post tonight. Winner gets...nothing! *grin*

16.14 True duals = good low end torque which means exactly dick when it comes to drag racing and you launch at 4-5k rpms n e way......You will never leave the high rpm range and utilize those duals. I am assuming those duals are also plugged up with baffled mufflers and cats?

What were your mods when u ran a 16.04? What tires are you going to use at the track? Is it a full tree with time slips? Is your timing still stock? What is the elevation in Sacramento? How is the temperature there right now? Make sure you only have a 1/4 tank of gas when u get there. Have you stripped anything out of the car? Change your oil before you go. Run premix if you don't already. Inspect your spark plugs and clean them if necessary or replace them. You running ac or ps? Are you still using the clutch fan? How is your clutch?

Wtih my mods I am running 15.38 right now.....damn flywheel and low profile tires. I am built for autox more than drag racing.

If you are willing to do a bit of weight reduction and chopping we can get ya down in to the mid 14s.....I don't want to strip my beautiful interior out yet....otherwise I would be pushing those mid to low 14s.

Umm.. I don't know about that. After installing the true dual exhaust on his car we both noticed a lack of low-end torque but a butt load of high end HP/Pull.

Kevin, things you need to remember:
- Get that killer launch like I did that one night
- 1/4 tank of gas
- Drive it like you hate it!!!

With that being said you can probably break 15.5’s but knowing your shifting style “..not double clutching like you should..” you will probably go 15.9’s Good luck bud let me know what is up.

I've got a half tank of gas currently. I will be launching around 4-5K...bring out the clutch until engagement point...then do a quick slip to get off the line.

I don't think I've ever side-stepped the clutch, I think I would get a lot of wheel hop.

I'll try to "shIft mAd Qwik y0!" down the strip!

You seem to have the same enthusiam for drag racing that I do. It's a bit of fun, but it just doesn't provide the same feeling of excitement/competition/adrenaline rush that autocross does.

The only reason I'd go back to the strip is to do some comparison after certain mods and because maybe there's just a lot of friends there. I get the idea that's the reason you're going, too.

I'll take an uneducated guess of 15.4 seconds.

You wired ur ports after u installed the true dual exhaust set up right? That is the cause of your "lack of low end torque" Just imagine having a single straight through set up.....you get even less low end torque than what you have.

How exactly is this true dual set up on your car anyway? Did you break your bank and buy some set up off of the net? Or did you save yourself about 800-1000 dollars and have the local muffler shop weld you up a nice exhaust? Are your mufflers baffled? Do you have catalytic converters still? I am curious because your exhaust is going to impact you more than any other mod that you have listed.

his ports were wired open many moons before the exhaust.

The N/A rotary ports open or closed is fairly a torque less monster to begin with. If you want to rant torque get a turbo there is where it's at. The N/A is a high revving peaking motor that begs to be pegged to redline.

gluck kevin, I'm goin w/ a 15.4 @ 91mph guess. if you are launching your car properly the lack of operational 6 ports mean nothing. the car should always be above 3800 in a drag race (well, an NA should). reaction times are only valuable in bracket racing which is really the only fun ive had drag racing before. take some pics tonight man!! too bad dana could come, 2 GTUs's lined up at once would make for a nice poster on that GTUs site in development

Yeah, I have no real love for drag racing. It just seems like far too much abuse on the car for...going in a straight line. I've done it like 3-4 times and I'm just not warming up to it.

The main reason I'm doing it is to see how the True Duals will effect my time/trap speed. It's like a $15 dyno session...kinda.

I've got my digicam so I'll make sure to take pics!

Any advice on launching? 4-5K then clutch slip...yeah?

I usually stage first so I can get the revs and clutch where I want it.

I'll give you a 15.7, but I hope you will do even better since you are representin' for the NAs. By the way you have one of the best done FCs I have ever seen. Your car is what I want mine to be, except I couldn't live without power windows. (I have a GXL)

I'm stickin w/ a 15.4 - kevin's car has LOW miles and is maintained meticulously. I can hardly believe you don't have RB's aluminum flywheel yet...GO PLACE YOUR ORDER yea, it's expensive but you get wild revs, it feels like a BIG gain on the top end and nothing else is adversely effected. it takes merely a day of city driving to adjust from a dead stop and you'll forget it's even there. Of course a clutch is a welcome upgrade when you are swapping in an aluminum flywheel. You may hear bad things but I think the CF dual friction is a great piece for any NA car that gets the snot driven out of it. It will take a ton of abuse, has a load more capacity than the stock clutch and feels no heavier than a stock clutch. It also doesn't disengage as harshly as the ACT's. Exedy also makes a nice piece...I get a sweet deal on those

I think that ACT is a much better clutch than Center
Force.

My guess is a 15.7

ACT's are nice but the NA doesn't need such an aggressive clutch (each one I have driven was less than tame...driveable for sure, but the CF feels nicer). My GVR4 has an ACT and it's surely an excercise to get that baby goin w/ a chromoly flywheel. My NA 7 is SOOO smooth and easy w/ the RB alumium and CF dual friction (which will hold up to 90% more than stock torque - no mans land for an NA)
