I've been trying to find some pics of the ssr competition wheels on a black rx7. So far I haven't had any luck finding any good pics. Can anyone help me out?

I have a set for my VR FD R1 for the track only. They look great with a red car...I'd imagine they'll look great with a black car. My SSR Comps are for track-only use, and the Comps end up looking black after the track day, but they look great before I take my first few sessions on track!

hehe..that pick you posted sugu...is the forgelines....the racecar below it have the 18 inch Kinesis k58's...

go to the west coast section..look for the dyno day pics and follow the links..there should be some pics of my silver fd in there...mine are 18x9 front and 18x10 rear both with 50mm offset

Kind of hard to tell from the pics on M2's site, but the black car on top appears to have the Forgeline GT3 and the one below it has the Kinesis K5 or K58 (same wheel except the k5 is a 17" and the k58 is 18) I am absolutely in love the the K58. I was planning to get them in 18x9 and 18x10 gun metal with polished lips. If you didn't already know, they are big money. I was planning to order them soon but a blow motor is gonna push that back quite a bit now. Talk to Rishie (ARDT2) he can get some pretty good prices. Its still conna cost ya though.

whats the diff between the 58s and the 59s... i cam't really tell... it sorta looks like the 59s are deep dish

First of all k5 and k58 are not the same..center section on 58's are larger and beefer...more clearance for big brakes...

59's are 19's...but otherwise the same...
anything with a "R" is reverse drop..meaning big fat flat lip...lot of ppl like that look...I think the normal lip personally..too each his own..

different finishes cost big bucks....
polishing is $100/per
anodizing is another $100/per on top
"R" is $150 per...

I should have mentioned that. The K58's have a larger center section, they are not just a 17" wheel with a larger outer piece slapped on. It shard to see the reverse drop in the pics.

and i know the kinesis are expensive......but how expensive?? ive already contacted rishie. i actually made this post after seeing the group buy.

for 4 18 inch Kinesis k58's in the standard finish...get ready to spend about a little over $3k..

now add the options that I broke down in a earlier post... and there will add up quick. The standard finish matches the stock silverstone so damn well...

on forgeline's site, it says the 18x10 list for a little over $1k a wheel. I'm looking to get 18x10 all around with 285/30/18 on each end.

whats the differences as far as benefits and what not for the forgelines and the kinesis in comparison??

anyone have weights for the wheels or anything??

my 18x10 are just a hair under 24lbs each...would assume forgelines would be very similar... for me it comes down to looks....I like the center section of the kinesis k58's better..

both wheels are immensly strong..I have forgeline RS's on my other car..not the same as Gt3...but forgeline is very high quality aluminum..so is kinesis.. Service from both is pretty awesome also...you cant go wrong with either wheel...

kinesis's finish is very durable for track wheels...from what other have told me...which is another reason why I decided on them...

as for forgeline gt3 for 1k/per...that is list price...you will find kinesis k58's will list for that also ...so cost will be the same roughly

the more i look at wheels the more im starting to lean back towards the SSR Integrals, Fikse FM10s, or the CCWs

right now thinking VERY seriously about getting the CCWs....

If you see the CCW's in person, they are not that nice. Its a track wheel, so there isn't really much effort put into making it pretty. I also don't like how the center section is so small. I guess its a matter of opinion though.

Not sure what they are. So the standard finish is the silver? I thought it was the goldish shot-peened or whatever finish. Johnny do you have any more pics of your wheels on the car? Something was wrong with the url on the dyno day thread. Like you said, they go up in price fast when you start adding adding colors and special finishes. I wonder if it would be more cost effective to have a body shop paint them gunmetal, rather than paying the $75 a wheel extra.

i really would like to have the Fikse FM-10s just from an aesthetic position....they seem to look better in pictures that ive seen of both of the wheels (fikse and CCW)

I wish i had someone's car to compare to and such, but NOTHING is in CO, especially not in the c.springs part of it...

its funny - when im in dallas im comparatively moderately modified, but when im in colorado springs im one of the most modified and fastest cars around....

wish i could just stay in dallas...

The CCWs are hubcentric if you get the track version.

If you get the street versions, you get hubcentric billet aluminum button-style centercaps which are highly polished like the wheel. The street version has better stainless steel hardware and the bolts are secured with nuts from the inside NOT the outside of the wheel like the track versions.

I know these details because I was set to buy them from John Purner in 10 x 17, until I found that my stock 4-inch OD springs will not work with the 10 x 17s up front...and I can't rotate the 10 x 17s because the offsets are different between fr/rr wheels. These are non issues with 18s and 2.5-inch coil springs.

BTW, the CCW 18-inch wheel centers are true 18-inch centers NOT 17-inch centers mounted on 18-inch rim halves. In fact their old 17-inch centers were actually 16-inch center mounted with 17-inch rim halves.

These days John uses separate wheel centers for each application 17 or 18-inch wheel center.

FWIW, I think the street version CCWs look pretty darned good, and would buy the 10 x 18s in hearbeat IF I had 2.5-inch coil springs.

IMO Fikses and Kinesis are just too pricey to be useful for me. Now if either wheel maker gave me a a set to race on then, that's different, but there's just no way I'd spend that much money on wheels.

For me that money is better spent on consumables like brake pads, rotors, 100-octane Elf, and Hoosier tires...but then again I race my FD 12 to 15 times per year, while many of you show your FDs (except for Max Cooper, of course), and perhaps MAYBE run the MADs VIR event.

Here's a pic one of the Rx7 Forum members took of me strapping in another Rx7 Forum member for a "thrill ride" at Putnam Park during my March 23 MDC Lapping and Drivers Ed.

Unfortunately my EBC Red Stuff pads melted during his ride, and we weren't able to keep up with a black Porsche 993 Carrera S PCA club racer we were chasing (Dammit!).

NOW, I've got the Type RS big brakes and Porterfield R4Es for this weekend's Porsche DE at Putnam Park, so I'll be looking to take "revenge"

Anyhow, here's a pic of my FD. Only the front SSR with 245/45-17 Hoosier R3S03 is visible. Note the brake dust accumulation! The SSRs almost look BLACK!

The first pic shows my car qued up first in line just underneath the flagging stand (the yellow Porsche 993 is just in the foreground).

My SSR Comps are hard to see, but you get the gist of what the SSR Comps would look like on a red FD from a distance
