Pics of my new brakes and new turbo!

These are going on my 1st gen RX7. They are FD RX7 calipers with Mercedes 300mm discs, or just under 12 inch discs.

New turbo is a Garrett GT35/40 with .70 cover and a 1.06 exhaust housing.

I pick the car up tomorrow with all the new gear!

I said it before... The front brakes of the 1st gen look totally German. With the hub/rotor combo... It's probably the 1st gen spindle/strut assembly with different wheel bearings and races. We just gotta figure out what Mercedes has 4 x 114.3 bolt pattern.

Or perhaps it's an entire spindle and strut assembly from a Benz... But I'd think that'd be harder to bolt into the 1st gen chassis as you'd have to deal with height and weight differences. Aftermarket springs and shocks should solve that though...

Geez... There are so many ways that one can go through with that... Tell us AJC.

Ok now tell me why you need to see what Benz has the 114.3 bolt pattern,They are not floating rotors

Right on steve, Are you saying that you've got all 4 corners or just the fronts ? thats pretty cool,,get-it ?
12 inch drilled rotors. And your haveing the work done for you ? and let me get this straight. did you gather
the calipers from a dead FD ? and the rotors from a dead benz ? and knew the 2 would go together ? or was it somebody else did it and you bought the parts from them ? One would have to be real ******* good to know cars that well to pull that off,,,mate Good score !
Your cars been down,or running ? oh that turbo things cool too Lol. Transmission still tight ? Did you see the thread on ladder bars and 4 links for 1st gens ? cool stuffs. g'day mate.

I know the pics don't work anymore. Something has happened to my site overnight and I have my guys looking into it now.

Okay, I went to the workshop I go to and asked for FD calipers and massive discs. The struts are standard S3 RX7 (GSL-SE) and the springs are lowered King springs.

I don't think any Mercedes has that stud pattern, the hubs would have been machined to have the 4 x 114.3 stud pattern?

I will get details this afternoon and plenty of photos for you all

MikeLMR - Yah, standard

mark - Just got those on the fronts. On the back I already have bigger single piston calipers and discs.

Car has been off the road since November getting engine freshen up, new turbo and new brakes And I get it back this afternoon!

Very Nice Steve..

I am sure you will love the GT35/40,
As it it much more properly sized for street use.

As was stated before..You keep raising the bar.

You Bastard.

You can clearly see the custom bracket in one of the pictures, it's the black piece of metal that bolted to the caliper

Nice work Steve, I'm sure I'll be doing something similar in the future (with the brakes). First I need a set of wheels that can handle the bigger rotors though.

Looks good! Go kick some *** wth the new turbo!
