While redoing my fuel system I had to move around my brittle wiring harness quite a bit. As you know this always leads to wires breaking off right at the tip of the connectors. Althought one might think that the only thing to do is buy a brand new wiring harness from MAZDA, this isn't the only resort.

I broke off the coolant sensor, 2 injector connectors and a crank angle sensor connector.

I started to think that these dang connectors should not be RX7 specific so I took a ride down to the local junkyard and started looking. I brought my old connectors down to match them up. There were no 3RD GEN RX7's there of course so I went to the next best thing. I went searching on 2 different cars and found all the connectors I needed in perfect condition. I found it all on a 93 protege and a 94 626. These connectors are on other year cars but I found the best condition ones on these particular ones.

Anyways I ended up with practically new 13 connectors and re did my wiring harness.

I also found that you can find all the solenoids and check valves on these cars too.

Oh yeah, I paid 1 dollar for each of them. Not too bad.

Thinking out of the box is always a plus and usually saves a lot of money. Good job.

I just got mine yesterday at the local import yunk yard off a mid 90's 626 too. It is a great alternative to going to the dealer and buying a whole new harness though.

Make sure you cut yourself plenty of extra wire from the junkyard connectors so you have plenty to work with.

Hey Eric....what if I brought you my wiring harness...do you think you could open it and remove all the **** I don't need and reaplace my broken clips? I will be in STL on Friday the 21st, if I could meet up with you to see your fuel setup and see how you did your wiring harness. I already have my harness removed and I was about to cut it open and remove all the **** I don't need anymore, I would love to see your wiring harness and if you could show me what junkyard you went to, that would be awesome. PM me about this.

Scott
