Question rattle noise - but not from drivers side

i am getting a rattle at idle and when the engine revs down (seems to stop while reving up), i think i narrowed its location to the passenger side firewall, and after sticking my head under teh car while it was running (and rattling) it seems as if its between the firewall and the glove box, wonder if this means ints in the tranny somewhere on that side.

i did search already but all i found was drivers side stuff and this is definetly on the passenger side

any ideas?

by the way, this rattle started after a track event last year, nothing seems wrong in function, just get the noise

also, i already checked all the underpanels for debris that could cause the noise, no luck there

oh i forgot to ask does the rattling stop or does it not rattle as much when the car is warmed up? mine does and i think someone told me that it was just the downpipe heating up/expanding

it almost sounds like its comming from the turbos or something.. like a little metal ball is bouncing around in the exhaust or something....

i wonder maybe its our wastegate flapping up and down or something? because mine defintly sounds like its inside the turbos/exhaust....not some heat shield

Ok when your car is warming up, it will give more vibration then when its warm.

Second; when you rev up and down, there is always a spot around 2000rpms when the engine gives of more vibs then at idle. Like exceleration and deceleration.

Third; I cant tell you where its coming from. Check the bolts on your computer, check the glove box(common place) check to see if you didnt throw a spare fuse in your glove box and thats what is rattling around. Just have to look. Takes time and its probably something dumb.

ALSO you can get a FEED engine brace and it really slows the vibs on the whole car, so you can do that and just leave the problem alone and cover it up with a GREAT mod

I think I have that same problem too. It rattles when I'm idle and stops when the cars starts to move.
It's definitely coming from the passenger half of the car.
I kinda thought it was the throwout bearing, but don't think so anymore.
It's really annoying.

..anyone determine if the rattle goes away when you engage the clutch?

If you haven't already tried it, you may be able to narrow down the noise source(s) by using a mechanic's stethoscope (or just a piece of tubing).

for me the rattle does not go away when i push in the clutch. ive checked everything... this rattle HAS to be comming from the wastegate. this is not some rattle that you can only hear when you open the hood or get near the car, for me i can hear it standing like 50 feet away from the car. Since the wastegate is open at idle maybe it is banging on the top of the exhaust manifold causing it to echo through out the whole exhaust? and when revving it up maybe the increased airflow of exhaust just causes the waste gate to stick to the top and not rattle up and down like idle?? for me the rattle goes away at around 3000 rpms.

tell me what you find when you look at the turbo gates..or if you try the engine brace...
