Talking Ghetto paint help?

Hey guys,

Looking at repairing the rust and repainting my second gen, right now I'm really like the flat black look and I need advice on how to do it. The examples I've seen include Sport Compact Car's project Silvia, done by just sanding it (the metal, I assume, not sure.... a little vague, the description is...), wiping it with acetone, and spraying with krylon flat black (as to which krylon flat black, I don't know....)(thats part of what I'm asking )

In addition, in the october 2002 issue of Excellence, there is a 1978 Porsche 930 painted with just PPG DP-90 epoxy primer. (no sealant).

I'd like to create something similar to these cars, (probably closer to the silvia, which was painted using spray cans ) and I'd love some advice..

um well first off fix the rust with some bondo then prime the entire car with a epoxy high fill primer sand it down with 400 grit sand paper then prime again just thin it down alot and then sand with 600
wipe it down with something you can probably get at a auto parts store called wax and silicone remover
and i dont know what you mean by flat black look but if i am thinking correctly dont use spray paint use a sprayer you can buy at costco or walmart and spray it with a flat black CAR PAINT that you can buy at a auto body shop
if u dont do the priming and sanding correctly itll look like &^%$ so be care ful dont waste your money by ******* up

cool cool, thanks guys!

How much is the DP-90 gonna set me back? (for a whole car worth?)

Dan: how much would the operation described above cost me (assuming I do it myself) (excluding the purchase of spraying equipment)

DP-90 is~60.00 for 1 1/2 qts mixed. Coverage varies with type of equipment and operator experience. You also need GOOD respirators( Preferably forced fed ~450.00)
