tranny problems!!!??? PLEASE HELP!!

well, tonight on the freeway i tried to downshift to 4th and all of a sudden its grinds liike crazy, and im no longer able to put it in 3rd, 4th, 5th or reverse....i cant move it past 2nd gear in neutral, it just wont bugde over to the right anymore.....anyone have any ideas on why??? and what i need to fix it?

before this happend it was already jacked up, while in any gear i could make little circles with the shifter and move it around EASILY, i was thinking that i needed new bushings but i think its more serious than that...

If your clutch freeplay is OK, then I would say you're tranny is fubared.

when you try moving the shifter over to the right....does it feel like it's hitting something....or more that it's jammed?

No being able to move your shifter over to the right doesn't mean that your tranny is done for. It sounds like something came loose in the shifter housing, or possibly right below the shifter. If this is the case, it shouldn't be too expensive to fix. But if you can move it all the way to the right in neutral, but can't get it into gear, then it might be a prelude to more serious problems.

That is just the bushings - The two that cradle the pivot ball, and probably the small one for the bottom ball.

Without the bushings, it's hard get enough leverage and motion to tell why 3-4 and 5-R won't select.

Is it possible you stuck in 1 or 2??

ok, well i can get it into reverse, but i have to force it over there, and then force it down into reverse, its not stuck into 1 and 2...i took it to Jeff at rotary power( i live about 3 blocks away) and i need a new tranny, hes gonna get me one....while im at it, im going to replace the clutch, get my injectors cleand by RC, get new bushings, and the whole car serviced...its going to cost me about $900....before all of this happend i was plannign on getting my header installed and custom piping into a single magnaflow....but all the money is going into this now....im gonna check to see if he can do that too though....

...sigh...just when your about to do some performance mods, something goes wrong! SHITTY!
