(INTAKE) Tried mech secondaries - unsuccessfully

Not sure why my original script didn't post.

Tried the mech secondary mod from slegers. Everything was pretty straight forward except for the secondaries opening with the throttle. I attached the linkage(s) at the yellow arrows on the illustration. There is no connection to the throttle, though.

I can see where the throttle bar thing moves past the secondary bar thing behind those linkages. If I depress the secondary bar thing it will move the main throttle, but not vice versa.

Does this make sense?

i think i did the same thing,,what was confusing to me was, the secondary has a bigger flat tab that you wrap the wire around (move the secondary linkage from the front of the carb while looking at the bottom rear of carb,,ended up being real easy once i wired the right linkages togeter,,,dont give up......

mech secondarys

my way may be kind of a rig, but it works. all i did was use a small zip-tie on the secondary linkage on the back of the carb. if you get things out of the way so you can see the linkages clearly it will help. operate the throttle and study the secondary linkage operation. the zip-tie goes around the rod and a piece on the secondary throttle shaft. just look at how everything moves when you work the throttle and you should see where to put it. good luck !

I finally got mine hooked up right after a few trys. If i can remember to borrow my girlfriend's digicam, i will take a picture and post it. It really isnt that hard once you find the right size wire and can get it tied tight. Also if you are using an insulated wire, you MUST strip the jacket off. If you dont it will slide right and left on the secondaries arm and wont grip when it is suppose to.

those pictures are looking straight on from the passenger side. you have to remove the anti-after burner valve to get to it though.

Hey look, its VashtheStampede!

btw: That's his car that I took the pics of.

..and yes those were taken from the passenger side of the car, in the cold, while it was dark out, and had no light, and it was windy.
