How far should the pilot bearing and seal sit into the eccentric shaft???
I'm a little late asking considering I just finished installing the tranny but I'm wondering if I installed the pilot bearing correctly.
I would really hate to damage anything or wear the bearing out prematurely.
This is where I installed mine, please let me know if this is correct. Thanks!!!!

Cant get the picture to upload, but if you can image, the pilot bearing dust/oil cover was just about flush with the inner slant of the eccentric shaft hole.

 

there should be a little bit of space between the pilot bearing & eccentric shaft, it should not be bottomed out. the seal should sit where you describe it. and if it's wrong you will prematurely wear the bearing out and it will make noise, then you get to take it back out. it shouldn't damage the eccentric shaft, but might bend the input shaft on extreme cases.

 

Can't remember whether they were flush or not, when I did it. I was told that when tapping in the bearing, I would notice the sound would change when it got where it needed to be. In other words, the tapping sound would change, and it did. Then I put in the seal. Hope that helps, although, you're already done, so...I wouldn't sweat it.
