Exhaust flames problem..

Apparently my n/a 1986 mazda rx7 doesnt shoot flames out of the exhaust, but instead just bellows out with smoke.

Normal? Probly not, but i just wanna know why it smokes instead of flame.

White smoke can mean the coolant seals are bad. Does it smell sweet? Anyway, make sure to be extra careful and check the coolant every day and don't let it overheat.
