Tiger Japanese Auto Parts

Has anyone delt with them? I saw a 13BRE they had but when I inquired they weren't really friendly which made me pissed because I don't wanna buy from people who can't deal with their customers with respect.

And on that note, does anyone know of any reputable engine importers in Canada? or anywhere else? I've been looking for about a year but I've never really found one I have been comfortable with.

Thanks in advance,

Adam C/

eh, I've done business there before.. not a great place to go, there are much better places and better prices to be had.. I've seen them put oil in the chamber to bring up the compression for testing.. not cool. overall selection and quality of motors is poor.. had to search through 12 SR20's to find one without broken CAS & injectors, as an example.

Stay Away From Tiger Japanese

Hey--New to the forum but wanted to warn you:

I recenlty ordered a 13B-T from Tiger Japanese--Received it last Tuesday after much run around about whether they had one or not. When I received it, the intake was full of water--water actually poured out! The cylinders were rusty, the pins from the turbo were missing huge chunks of metal and numerous little things were wrong!

I have pictures. If you want to see them, visit:

http://webpages.charter.net/ewhitledge/

Good luck!

Jon is a great guy whenever I talk to him..most of the time, such as all others, he has his bad days. I'd reccommend actually going down to the shop an inspecting it.

why? there are places around that sell engines for less and larger selection and give you a DOA /low mileage warrenty on each engine they sell.

tiger crap!

i bought a 13b re motor from them

1st. they droped it off in the street instead of the dock.
2nd .20lbs of compression on rear rotor
3rd .the motor had sit so long the carbon build-up had become stone/no sping in the apex seal "sping"
4th. oil metering pump broke from housing flopping arround(ft plate crap now)
5th .2 broken injectors multi cat scrach'z on housings and a spun main seal!
6th. no intercoolier "was one in the picture and was assured was there be-4 purchase.

all in all the guy assured me the motor had not been sitting ,not running out of a car more than 2 months....i found out why they got the motor and why it was no longer in any vehicle.i'm not mad just allittle wiser after the sale.

Customer of mine bought an s5 t2 from them. They told him they comp tested it and when we checked it there was a stuck seal on each rotor. It had no compression on 2 faces both front and rear. Took him over a month and a call from his lawyer to get some money back.

Try these two over Tiger. But if you know what you are looking at there is no reason why you can't deal with Tiger. They have always allowed me to take a detailed look at what I am buying including removing parts from a keg if necesary.

they wouldn't let me remove anything from them the last time I went.

When Ig ot there they were almost closed (we ran into a huge traffic jam on the 401 and got there an hour later), they upped the price $300 from what they said on the phone, and then they assured me that it was a good motor and that was why I was paying the extra money.

I ended up paying the extra money, getting it home and it was JUNK, so I had to drive BACK a second time, and they didn't want to take the first motor back, they just wanted to sell me a second one, this time for $100 MORE yet!

I won't deal with them anymore, I had no trouble in the past but this was ****.

I got my 13B-T longblock from Toronto JDM. It has been great with nothing missing from what I understood I was getting. Their shipping prices were the best of anyone I could find in Ontario. The only thing is that their warranty has a bunch of conditions like having to be professionally installed and new waterpump and such. I told him that I was doing the work myself because there are no rotary shops and Mazda is a joke here. I also mentioned that if he didn't give me the warranty, I was not going to buy from him. He gave me a 30 day start-up warranty then 30 more days to drive it. The only issue I had was they sent the wrong ECU and it was broken, but that seems to be a common issue because they just chuck all of them into a bin and pull one out to sell.

This Is where I bought my s5 TII engine from. I was given an opportunity to scope out their entire Inventory, unassisted, and bought the s5 for the same price as the s4 one as agreed upon earlier!

i find jdm revolution/tokyo auto parts are the best, from what ive seen, very honest, and great prices...

i think henry just offers a start up warranty, because in all honesty, with a used motor, anything can happen, the motors are comp tested before hand, and i doubt he wouldnt make things right if there was defects

Tiger Japanese prides itself on offering engines of excellent quality. All their engines pass a Multi-point inspection & Compression test to ensure great quality engines. They only ship engines with positive compression test results.

And yet we seem to have a lot of people here and in similar threads (search will turn up lots on this dealer) providing very different accounts of their dealings with Tiger Japanese... rotary engines that had no, or close to no compression, engines (piston) filled with gear lube to mask valvetrain and crank/rod problems, etc. By all means, people can check them out, but extreme caution would seem to be advised based on the number of first-hand accounts of bad dealings, and reluctance to allow customers to properly inspect engines, or to refund or compensate those that have received duds. Not everyone who has dealt with them has been burned, but it seems like way too many have.
