Should I buy a rusty REPU?

Just an update.
Took 44 hours to grind rust off interior of bed and floor bottom, Metal Ready it, POR-15 silver and primer. Floor interior got Lawn Green Plasticote paint which is a near perfect colormatch.
90% of undercarriage and entire rear suspension is derusted, primered, epoxy painted, rubberize undercoated. Gas tank will be derusted and re-sealed this weekend.
I stripped the wheels down to bare metal, primered, white epoxy paint and clear coat. Look like new and only cost $50 to do.
8 gallons of POR-15's Metal Ready and about 7 knot wire wheels for the 4.5" angle grinder!!!!! More work than I wanted but REPU's are rare and this was a good deal !?!?!?. Didn't want her to get parted out and restoring her is my gift to the Rotary Cause at Large.
Girlfriend bought 100mm long TWM full radius velocity stacks and 6" tall K&N air filter for Xmas and B-Day! Has a little more bottom end torque now (the REPU that is
)
GF also sewed up the bench seat and carpeting. She's a keeper!
GREAT truck to drive, loads of fun, used it to help buddy's gf move out of her house, bed heald a lot more than we thought! .Can't wait to get it all back together and on the road. REPU will be repainted and at SevenStock looking clean!
I'll post pics when they're developed.

I think you should.. The longer you wait to get a repu the more time they will accumulate rust.. Hell my repu was aquired by my dad many years ago.. Now that I know how rare it is, it has accumulated quite a bit of rust.. But I figure that it would be hard to find another.. especially if I wait..
Maybe, but not in the REPU. It doesn't go very well on the freeway. But Mr Rotoscoot may go. If so, his REPU can fly. It's also a real head turner. You'd get a kick out of it. http://www.geocities.com/cd23c/cars.html#rotoscoot

all the black stuff represents metal grinded down to bare metal, Metal Ready de-ruster, 2 coats Zinc primer, 2 coats epoxy paint, 2 coats rubberized undercoating.

The wheels got stripped to bare metal, 2 coats primer, 2 coats white epoxy paint and 2 coats of clear coat. And snazzy aluminum valve caps, new chrome lug nuts!
much better Flowmaster exhaust collector on there now. new u-bolts. new Monroe shocks and a 33" long Magnaflow 6" diameter aluminized muffler on the way.
95% done with bottom.
6.5" tall air filter with 4" TWM aluminum full bellmouth velocity stacks under there. got all the crud out of radiator with Castrol Super Clean, generic brand LimeAway from 99 cent store, CLR, Barkeepers Friend and lots of HOT water.
had rx7 4 spoke steering wheel, now has proper REPU wheel, and new proper shift boot and a Mazda wood shift ****. Dash cap has fresh vynal and 1/8" PADDING, no cracks, cost only $25 for me to redo.
bed soaking in Metal Ready deruster. the black stuff is neutralized rust that even the grinder couldn't obliterate!!

My 27" long 2.5" Magnaflow muffler is installed and has a nice tone. Motor revs a lot better. A little louder than I wanted but I might put one of those Monza resonated exhaust dual tips on there to take some raspiness out of it.

Put the bed back on with bed-to-frame bushings made out of a soft plastic plumbing coupler. New Monroe shocks front and rear (fronts are Sensa-Trac). New leaf spring bushings. Exhaust is done and is not loud. Dellorto makes more noise than exhaust!
Drove her around and around the block today for first time since February. No fenders, bumpers, tailights. It does make more power with the improved rear exhaust and the 100mm bellmouth velocity stacks.
Had to ream out idle fuel jets .02mm bigger and increased main fuel jets from 205 to 215. Now it doesn't bog and hesitate nearly as much. Zippy little REPU, loves to rev. Too bad it weights 2750lbs though!!!
I got a BIG smile when returning from my first trip around the neighborhood. Real good feeling she is workable and usable now.
Bodywork is next. Paint before end of year.
