World's fastest 12A, the FACTS

Here's the real story. I opened a new thread because the old one (680whp(12A) It's possible "proof") turned into a political debate. A few facts about Delirium:

1) The two fastest 12A's are Delirium and Little Dragon, both from Puerto Rico. They are not running in the 7's yet. Best times are 8.27 @ 160 mph and 8.40 @ 158, respectively.

2) Contrary to what a few people said, Delirium does NOT have NOS. It's not even Alcohol. Just turbo and gasoline. Little Dragon also runs a turbo/gasoline setup. AFAIK, and according to owner Boris Rojas, Delirium is the fastest two-rotor car running on turbo and gas only, be it 12A or 13B. Jose "Little Dragon" Burgos is the mechanic of both cars.

3) Delirium is a full-chassis car weighting 1,852 lbs. It's heavy by today's standards, as the chassis was one of the first ones done by a now famous chassis builder and it was made out of steel.

4) And now for the fact to end all discussion: horsepower! According to the owner himself and programmer Jorge "Oso" Juarbe, Delirium is putting out approximately 550 hp at the wheels.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the car is fairly new and the owner is a rookie in the 8-second range. They figure that with a few more pounds of boost (it is currently set at 27 psi) Delirium should break into the 7's.

That's all for now, folks!

Drag racing... tube-frame cars... Puerto Rico... yeah, whatever. Let's talk about Mazda rotary engines:
Sure it's possible to make a million horsepower with a 12a - but for how long?

Well, there's another thread going on right now on the exact same topic under this same forum that's three pages long and counting. Half of the messages are full of insults, unverified claims, false information, etc. So I'd figured what better place to post this and clear things up?

Cheers,

Im accually very supprised Robert even posts here with the numbers he makes.

Hes by far one of the fastest import guys on the streets, and the fastest RX-7 on the west coast. Ari used to street race with 680rwhp12a back in the day.
Not many street cars could come close to him when he was on a Nikki carb, and now he is EFI.

Now im not saying he could run 8's. But if he says he made 680rwhp, he probably did make that, if not more.

maybe he's not driving a 7. rx2's and 3's came with 12a's. let's not forget the ones that made the 7 possible.

And what does that have to do with anything??????

He was mad because it was posted in the 1st gen section... What does that have to do with an RX-2 or RX-3?

If you where just trying to plug the RX-3, then fine.. I would rather have one of those then my 7...

Well, the reason i said that was because it was the ONLY RX-7.. I never said it was the only mazda to come with one..

I was giving it justification for being in this section, versus the lounge/2nd gen/3rd gen sections..

alright now guys, lets not start going down a similiar path to where that last thread ended up. Did y'all not see my comment about the 12 guage?

I did clean that other thread up too, by the by, just incase any of you still wanted to discuss in that thread (debate, not flame/insult each other's mothers etc).

All I'm really saying is: please try to keep this discussion civilized (which it is so far) and on topic (which it's straying some at this point) so I don't have to spend an hour and a half cleaning up this thread too ...

Thanks

Yeah me too, it is good that guys give up their time to help others out, especially when they are doing things that are not just "copying" other people.

I am not doubting what the guy has done, good on him for having a go and doing something different with a set up that most people would not look twice at

550rwhp on a dynojet i believe can be done and be done day in day out, i know there is a 12a here in aus that makes over 460rwhp on a dyno dynamics dyno.

Thanks for the info! I withdraw my NOS comments which were only made in relation to the engine possibly making 680rwhp.

Should be good when they start leaning on it!!
