Hey, I just bought a newly rebuilt engine from AtkinsRotary.com I installed it myself and it runs great! They also sell a detailed how-to video on removing a replacing the engine. At least if you go this route you know exactly what you've got. I thought about getting one from a junk yard, but then I risk the chance of it blowing a week later or something. Let me know if you have any questions.

Well, if that is the only option, looks like I am gonna sell my car. I don't have the $2k+ for a rebuild, so I will just count this car as a loss, and save up for another FC.

Give Hyptz7nz (whatever his screen name is) Kevin Landaers a shout for an economy rebuild to get you on the road.

Well, you are going to spend at least $3,000+ for another decent FC. Might as well do a rebuild for $2000 and then you know what you got instead of taking a gamble on an FC that you know nothing about.

Hmm, I have a running engine, but it has high miles on it (130+) However it does still have good compression. That sucks that you killed it, poor little car

Well, I talked to Kevin. $1400 for a rebuild. I think I am gonna sell my car for scrap, keep the performance parts, and buy a S5 N/A in like 6-8 months. I just can't give up on owning an FC. I have been watchin WAY too much Inital D lately!! Also, my ex is now seeing a guy who drag races a 67 Camaro SS, and I need a fast car to feel good about myself!!!!

If he's racing a old SS, better start saving for a FD. She'll be begging to go for a ride in it.

Use the phone book--yellow pages!

Did you even try calling/visiting ALL the recycle/salvage/junk yards in the area? Theres gotta be at least one wrecked NA RX somewhere with a good cheap used engine.

http://www.car-part.com/
http://www.copartfinder.com/
http://www.aandrautoparts.net/ $750 used NA.

Or swap time:

Well, if the body was not in such poor shape, I would keep it. I AM getting another rex, just I'm not gonna fix this one. Yeah, it is a rare 91 w/o sunroof (never seen another 91 w/o sunroof before) but oh well. I have always wanted a black FC. Mabye i will keep the ol n/a shell for an eventual TII swap. But right now, I am just lovin the n/a.

Dude I am not understanding your logic. So you have put all this time and money into a car that you obviously enjoy driving and you are just going to sell it because you blew a motor? Then on top of that you are going to save up and buy another one? I would see the logic behind it if you had to have a car to get to work and you were going to sell yours to buy a beater to get around and eventually get another FC. But if you are going to start saving right away for another FC. Dude keep yours, quit whining, and get a street port . You have no sunroof!!!! Your car is ¼ the way to being a GTUs you are almost part of my clan. A good friend of mine told me “Don’t just buy a boat put tons of money into it and then when it starts sinking because of a leak and all it costs is a plug kit for the hole. Don’t say **** it let it sink, buy the damn plug kit!! YO” and that is my .02

They assembled my engine backwards, which Iwould have never figured out except that it wont pass emissions due to the EGR system being TOTALLY disabled. When I explained this, they basically said "too bad". They werent even interested why I wanted them to take the motor back. True, I was outside the 1 year warranty, and thats because I had a death in the family, and didnt get around to installing the motor for a whole year. So I have a beutiful, brand new, completely worthless motor. I wonder how many other people have they done this too?

Aparrently, the front and rear housings are swapped. Effectively disabling the EGR. Plus the thing smokes like A bandit. Its never ran right. I spent hundreds of dollars on new injectors, ACVs, ECUs, etc.. ITs a complete peice of junk that I am stuck with.
