Exclamation my 7 won't rev over 2000, HELP!!!

My RX-7 will not rev above 2000, and if I give it full throttle, the revs will oscillate between 2k and 1.5k. I am stumped. I thought that it might be the auxillary injection ran by the air pump (b/c I took it off), but opening both ports still did not allow it to rev. Thinking that maybe taking off the air pump fouled my cats, I took off my exhaust, still yielding no results.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

Thank You!

Here are a few suggestions. Possibly the TPS is unplugged or has failed. Check it. Possibly a massive AFM failure. Possibly a really bad air leak after the AFM. Possibly running out of fuel due to a clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump. Check fuel pump pressure. Hope you find something!

Try checking the connection between your injectors and the harness, I had a similar problem and it turned out that I had a poor connection.

Have you checked your engine codes? I had the same problem on my son's '90 vert. Codes showed two problems, TPS and oil metering pump. If you have an '89-91, the electric oil metering pump may be your problem. I changed the TPS and still had the cut off problem. Found a used metering pump, swapped it and the problem went away. I guess they configured a cutoff in the control system to sense a failed metering pump and limit the revs so that you don't blow the seals. Clever. Check the codes first before you spend a bundle.
