new type of 99 spec taillights (pics)

hey guys, i decided i wanted to do my 99 spec taillights myself but once i had them apart, i wanted something different than the other rx-7. I have seen someone making clear 99 spec, and i thought it looked nice.

So i decided to do something that would be putting both in the same thing.

I am pretty sure that most of you won't like it but personnaly, i do, i think it is not that bad. So let just say i will arm my flame suit

anyway, here is what it looks like

I must say I am not fond of the look. Reminds me of some of the weird light kits people put on eclipses. I say if it ain't broke (and it surely ain't)...
No Flame intended.

Great!

Very original and looks great too! Good job!
Are the center of the light circles cleared out? How are the lights getting through the whole circle or just the outer ring? Details please.

i knew not every one would liked it.
yes, the light is coming out of both the red circle and the clear part, that's what makes the look of two color when the lights are on.

Thumbs up

Nice work puma.

I like seeing people doing something they want without needing/wanting the approval of other people.

I've done many tail light mods and I would like to know how you have the center cleared out... Interesting...

well in fact i just drilled the center part where it is clear and i put some acrylic behind the plastic. So clear and red part aren't at the same height but behind the smoke cover, it doesn't look like it. I could do the same thing without the ring around it, and it is a lot easier than the way it is made on the how to on the ILUVMYRX7 website.

i haven't had any problem with the cops since my car is winterized .

I am pretty sure i won't though because the brake light lights very red, you can't miss it. And it looks worst than it is on the pic since the camera had a flash but with not too much light or ordinary day light, it is hard to see the change on the tailights because of the smoke cover. Just look at your tailights and you will see that we don't really see the red part well since it is behind a cover. It is even worst with the 99 spec snce they are black and there is very little red.

It is not as obvious as those clear or altezza lights that you see on hondas. Passing by my car and not looking at it carefully, you won't even notice that there is a difference than stock.
