I must admitt, however, that I'm a bit skeptical.
See, I got out my Machinists Handbook, and did the volume calculations. I came up with 61.something cubic inches.

Maybe (hopefully,) I totally screwed my math up. In this case, that would make me quite happy!

Certainly has prompted me to triple check.
I'll do it all; measurements included, from scratch again and let you know what I get.

Well I re-did the calculations, and there's no way it's an M-90.
I also did some more "web-scratching", and found out that the Series I Bonnevilles used the M-62. Apparently, I have a later model M-62, as they did'nt teflon coat the rotors untill the last year or two that they put them in those cars (93 or 94).

I never thought to look at Yahoo Groups for a Bonneville site. When I did, I was horrified to see the earlier archive boards from 1999 inondated with "My supercharger crapped out..." type threads!
It seems that the earliest SC equipped Bonnevilles had serious seal problems. They were probably over reved, and over heated causing eventual front seal leakage. Of course once all the oil was gone, destruction was close behind.

Two main reasons seem to be that the blowers were maxed out pretty good on those 3.8s, and the shaft length was long on the early blowers - making for good leverage for the belt force to stress out the nose cone bearings.

Anyway, what all that means is that 'Yeah', I wound up with an M-62, but at least it's a better one than I could have wound up buying in my ignorance. It does have the short nose cone, and it does have teflon coated rotors...and it's guts are rebuilt with new bearings and the rotors don't have a scratch on them.

I can't complain.

I think this thing will still serve me well (even if I can only get 7 or so psi from it) when combined with an IC and water injection.
