Seats for the tall guys?

I know I know search, but I have read several threads from the past on aftermarket FD seats, and have no definative answer.
I know several people have recently installed the DAD seats and the R-1 seats off eBay into their cars with good fitment results. (I know there are much better, approved seats) I've seen pictures, but not heard about the install and final fit details. I need to know if seat height is asacrificed, or if it can be lower. Also if the seats still retain their ability to go farther back. I'm open to all suggestions (short of cutting out the floorpan) to get a lower seating position. (removing the sliders comes to mind). Also if there was any weight savings over the stockers, whether the stock rails were used or rails made by another manufacturer, or custom.

Cossie, so do you definitely have more headroom with the Recaros?

yes..I feel I am closer to the floor now...but given I have a large head (Arai XL), I still hit the side roof when I have my helmet is on...I havent had too much of a chance to play with it as my car went to the body shop the day I got the seats installed...

Come and try them next time....I will be at Thunderhill pretty soon..April 18th with alot more mods...

I am 6'4" and I have the same problem. I fit fine in my 93 touring, but I won't fit with a helmet on. I also tried searching, but with very sparse results. I think the best bet is to get an aftermarket seat and bolt it directly to the floor. I have my seats out now, and I think this will probably work. I'm thinking of getting a cheapo Corbeau seat to install for autocross weekends.

the problem with mount the seat too low...the positon for your legs would get uncomfortable over long distances....
