Brake Pads Which Are Best?

I am replacing my rotors due to wear, So i upgraded to Cross-Drilled and Slotted on all four coners. I need a new set of pads, So here the question Whcih ones? The Car is a Daily Driver, 350-400 miles a week. However I drive hard more offent than not. Even with the OEM brakes i never expeaced That much fade so thats not one of my big concers. Oh ya i am broke so yets not get too outragous on the prices.

I was thinking about

Apex
Hawk
Green Stuff
Any others?

Thanks

I've got Bonez Stage I (slotted rotors and pads). I do spirited driving to work and back everyday through a canyon and my brakes have held up nicely. Have not had to change the pads at all and it's been about 15 months since I installed them. I drive about 85 miles a day total, to and from work. Got mine from RX-7.com (RP Online) .

Hawk "HPS".

Do not get the HP Plus for strictly street as they are a more aggressive compound that will eat your rotors faster. They're more designed for autocross. (This is from Jeff Ocasek @ Hawk Brake 800-542-0972)

The P/N for HPS is HB155-F.580 (front)

I bought mine when I lived in Portland at Race Central, but you can order them just do some web searching for prices.

If money wasn't a concern I would say Endless pads are incredible. They have many compounds.

I had pretty good luck with the EBC greens on the street actually. Track use turns them into vapor however.

HP+'s aren't that rough on rotors. At least not on lighter cars, like RX-7's. I've gone through 2 sets of HP+'s and my rotors show no signs of faster wear ... and I auto-x/time trial all year round. But, HP+'s dust like mad ... if you don't like cleaning your wheels that often, then stay away from the HP+'s.

Yeah, I have had no signs of rotor wear at all with the HP+ but they are dirty pads.

My experiance with pads has tought me that Endless, Hawk HPS, and Project Mu's are the best I've ever used. Although the HP+ is better than the HPS, the dust it creates is horrible. Those are my very opinionated and selfish views, so go with what your gut tells you!!!

Interesting. I don't give a hoot about brake dust. In your opinion are the HP+'s much better in braking performance then the HPS'?

Yes, the initial bite is harder and they can run at higher temps. The downside of the HP+ is the squeak and the dust. I went through two sets of HP+ with no squeak, this one squeaks. My thoughts are perhaps I didn't break them in correctly, we'll see soon we I change pads again.

Same here. The HP+'s are much better for competition driving. There's no comparison to the HPS or OEM Sumitomo pads. And with the boat-anchor-like braking on the FD, I continually amaze riders with how late I brake into corners. I have been tiring of the brake dust, so I may give the Porterfields or Project Mu's a try once this set burns up.

If I remember correctly, the Hawks are a helluva lot cheaper than the other two brands you mention.....

****, you're telling me. I was running EBC Reds in the front.....those bad boys ain't cheap. Too bad they vaporize on the track, as someone else already pointed out. I liked the Reds alot, but would have had to get a second job to run them.

Yeah, I kind of miss the ability to engage the ABS at will with the HP+ pads. I don't miss the LOUD squealing with light brake application or the incredible amount of hard-to-remove dust though. HPS are great for the street.
