my passenger side headlight wont pop up.


the drivers side is normal, but the passengers side wont pop up. i notice that the light on the passenger side headlight does work though.

any suggestions?

 

also, i did check the wires underthere, and didnt notice anything too strange. unless im missing something

Try taking out the fuse and putting it up manually, mine did the same thing once i moved it up and down i put the fuse back in and it works fine.

 

On the bulkhead behind the passengers side headlight.....there is a relay. If you tap on this relay, and the light still does not come up.........pull the relay out. Look at it. You can take the thing apart. It has but one contact. Lightly scrap/sand on the inner and outer contacts. Use a small pocket knife and scrape on the contact then bend it outward just a touch.

Reinstall the relay. Hopefully the headlight will come up on the next try.

If not.....remember....there is a **** just below the headlight motor that you can turn to make it come up.

 

thanks for the advice hailers, but hannigan pointed me in the right direction. i took out the 30 Refractor relay, put it back in, and vwala.

Fixed? Great. But since I'm here, I had a passenger headlight that would not go down. The first time of RX ownership I ever had that problem. Tried, tried and tried again and it would not go down. I did the FUSE in the engine compartment to no avai.

Finally I noticed that when I turned the **** at the bottom of the headlight to make it come up/go down....I would hear a relay clicking. It was the one in the following jpg. I took the plastic cover off and bent the inner post on the relay. Works like a charm now. Bought another this day in the wreck yard for the future.

Frankly.....I never saw this relay in the schematics in the manual. It exist on my 86 and 87 RX.
