There's some pics of a hacked up prelude CAI made to fit an S4 base. Yeah, that's my car, got some other mods and diff wheels and **** now.

Just measure closely when you cut that...unless you plan on doing something differently. Like having the aluminum pipe go all the way to the TB, too... I don't think the bends that come with it can make it, though.

That's Ddub's setup... I plan on making one form my car, but all the aluminum pipes will be welded.

i just bought the Prelude CAI as well, but with the pipe pre cut in the middle. I think it was about 35$ and 10$ S&H. Ill be starting the project next weekend, ill probably end up running the pipes down to the air intake for the brakes, like the pictures above.

Nice job using pictures of MY car for the setup you'll be making and selling

Is your kit going to include a filter? Cheap ebay one or real K&N? What about an AFM adapter for s4 people? Are you going to have detailed instructions about where to cut the hole? You better, what happens if you don't explain it well enough, someone cuts the hole, and all of a sudden your premade kit doesn't fit?

What about couplers, are you going to include those? Or hose clamps? How about the coupler for the TB elbow to pipe? You realize it's 3.5" to 3" correct? Or are you going to use a plumbing coupler for that one? Are you going to compensate for the fact that some people need vac nipple sources in the intake for things?

What about s5 people? You realize the s5 AFM has a much much smaller outlet than s4 with an adapter, right? Going to provide the proper coupler for that too?

Try pricing everything again and include the stuff I've mentioned here, 50-60 bucks will be what it costs YOU at a very minimum, and that's only if you use an ebay filter or don't include filter cost in price. That'll also be if you use the plumbing coupler for the TB.

I've barked up this tree before, made a few for some people, but there's never a huge interest.

If you do in fact do this, I really hope you take into consideration everything I've listed here, or you're going to have some upset customers that don't have things work properly for them.

EDIT
Also, if you're planning on selling quantities in the 50+ range, you cannot simply create a thread with the fact that you're making it and telling people to contact you if they're interested. Quantities of that caliber require you to be a paying vender or get approved for a group buy. Just fair warning...

And somehow my pictures mysteriously disappeared, oh my

Somehow the directory where those pictures are stored on my site got changed. Kinda weird huh? Guess you shouldn't use pictures of my old setup and my car to sell your product. Just for future reference ya know...

My point was that I don't think you really thought this through if you plan to sell it for 50-60, while taking into account the extra things you may need.

Yeah even if he was able to get the piping for dirt cheap, couplers and hose clamps would be cheap for him also. Then if he were to throw on K&N-like filters..........I still couldnt see how he could keep it in the 50-60 price range. I think he needs to build about ten of these things, see how long it takes to manufacture, and then I think his priocing will change.

my thoughts exactly.. also you do realize you still need the adapter to go from the square opening to the round tube. well that just destroyed your quick buck plan there.

We weren't trying to **** you off or discourage you... at least I wasn't necessarily. To me it just seemed like you didn't necessarily go at it in the right way, or think it fully through. I've priced all this stuff many times, that's why I was saying those things.

Failed? I tried this, and still offer it to anyone that wants it. I've made a few for customers, but there was never a *huge* interest in it, just a person every now and then.

OR, maybe they did this, KNOW how much it costs, have considered the variables, and realize it will be much more then the estimated price? (dDuB?)

Yeah. That's right. You = FAIL.
