ok, so I got this thing for only $50 shipped. She looks nice and tight (joke for Adam). So my question is: Does the aftermarket shifter's use the metal bushing? ...or is it only for the OEM regular shifter? I bought the aluminum bushing from M'Trix and do I need to whack that f'n thing on with a mallet or are my wheaties deffective?

 

ok, well I wacked that puppy but she was too tight! It didn't rotate after it was on. I'm having it sanded/machined down (the ball at the end) so I can fit the bushing. Has anyone used this brand? What about the other replicas like Gothom's? Did you guys put the bushing on those? I would think it would rattle if you didn't.

 

Goracer, I also bought the same shifter but I only paid 25.01+shipping ($35 total). It should arrive tom.

Didn't it come with the rubber/nylon bushing as shown on the picture? Or did you just choose to use an aluminum one? thanks.

I didn't see that low price but there is a few company's on ebay selling it for several different prices and as high as $65+ship. Mine did not come with the rubber/nylon bushing and it's painted black and assembled. I had allready purchased the aluminum bushing previously from M'Trix for the stock or Mazdaspeed shifters.

 

Correction, I found them from $40 to $75 and the B&M for over $125. I never saw one for $25, you got lucky! Post a reply if yours is black and assembled or the polished look. I think the bushing you see in your previous pic is part of the assembly and not for the ball on the bottom of the stick. Mine looks like the pic below...

Def. a B&M replica. The one from Gotham does include the nylon bushing.

 

Well I had to shave the ball at the end (sanded down) to fit the aluminum bushing http://www.mazdatrix.com/getprice.as...m=02-9401-0000 . Maybe I should have used the nylon one since it was more flexible but I didn't want it to crack. http://www.mazdatrix.com/getprice.as...m=17-462A-0398

It has alot different feel to it. You can feel the clicking in to gears and it stays there. I don't like how the springs feel going sideways, but you get used to it. The hex screws are necessary since the stock ones are too short with the new peice. I can't compare it to the Mazdaspeed (or replica) cause i've never tried both. Maybe some one else has?

So, did everyone with a real B&M or a replica use either a nylon or aluminum bushing?
Did you shifter come with one?

 

I had a B&M SS on my previous FD and I loved it to death! Definetly worth the price. It didn't come with a bushing, so rest assured that you did not get bamboozled.

I placed the original bushing on my replica. Best $25.00 shifter/mod I've done to date. The replica sold on Ebay may be the Gotham shifter.

 

No, I had the B&M and was told that it was easier and better overall not to put the bushing on it.
