FOr all those running HALTECH ( do you want it in your pocket)

I posted this here because the haltech forum is so dead.. My friend says it does work and i hope to test this out as soon as i get my haltech in and up and running... I guess i would be cheaper to get an old laptop but if you are like me and already have an ipaq it is hella nice and compact to user this instead of a bulky laptop...

Wow, that is nice...
Most of the control are CTRL combos and basic PageUp/PageDown or ArrowUp/ArrowDown keys...

nice size and all, but what kind of plug are you gonna use to interface with the ecu in the car?

Same question, doesn't the haltech require an RS-232 Serial port?

Well, any device that can do USB can do RS-232. I know you can buy USB serial adapters that should work..

Not sure if the Ipaq has a standard serial port though.

The Serial port has to be COM1 or COM2 in order for the HALTECH DOS application to connect to the ECU.
I have an old HP 200LX. It is very convenient. It works very well. The only problem was the small screen.

Thats my Ipac. The original tread was posted at a Hyundai Tiburon forum by me.

http://www.teamsr.org/UBB/ultimatebb...;f=16;t=002021

For all of you interested you will need :

1- A Pocket PC PDA
2-An RS -232 serial adapter (i bought mine at Mobile planet).
3-pocket DOS software at www.pocketdos.com

It works fine and is better than having the laptop with you all the time. But for tuning i prefer the laptop i use the Ipac mostly for datalogging.

onpol, What are you doing here... go back to the tiburon forum

I am trying to find the cheapest PDA that will do this.... exactly what you use it for... data logging.

sweet!!!! cuase running that haltech software on a 50 year old lap top sucks!! let alone hit a bump in the data log and your lap top 200meg hard drive takes a dump!!

I been waiting for a control head about the size of an savrc disply.

I think I might have to it a try.

Looks cool for datalogging. Pretty trick!

Portable PC is much better for tuning on the fly since you can see the screen (for the blind drivers like myself).

I'm still trying to build an ultra small form factor computer for the car and wire up the display to one of the LCD monitors used for TV/DVD playback.

"I'd love to see what kinda fuel map you're using" <reachs into pocket>

I wonder if this would work for any other standalone tuners, I think Autronic is DOS based, I **** remember
