i got the racing beat ones... brand new... for $50
actually i dont know if they are racing beat ones cuz it doesnt say racing beat on the wire... just "ULTRA" but they are red silicon and look exactly like the pictures ive seen.. and the connectors are about 1000x better than the stock ones. so im happy with them.

The core size does get bigger from stock up to 8.8mm I have axcel 8.8mm wires in my car. The MSD (8.5mm) are larger then the stock cores and the 8.8mm axcels are larger then the 8.5mm but thats where it stops.After that you paying for silicon. I'm not going to debate this with any body we have had them all in our hands at the same time. My stock wires and an old set of MSD 8.5mm out of my buddys S10 and 8.8mm axcels the differences between them all is night and day.

OK, here's the breakdown - I've personally used or worked with cars with pretty much every plug wire you care to mention.
Stock NGK - they work great, fit great, and are VERY reasonably priced - I think you can get a set for around $20 or so brand new. They aren't very long lived, but are generally well built.
Magnecor - my favorite. Very reasonably priced, and they've changed the design at least 3 times over the years, improving fitment each time. For about $55 they're probably the best bang for the buck, and will outlive your car.
Jacobs - not a fan. Fitment is lousy, and they have trouble with the part that clips onto the plug wire corroding and breaking off. I don't recommend them.
Taylor - I haven't used them personally, but have seen them on other people's cars - good price and fitment.
Nology - avoid. The capacitor thing is a marketing gimmick, and they're BIG TIME overpriced. Many moons ago a 3rd gen guy dyno tested them and compared them with stock NGK wires, and actually *lost* horsepower. Yeah. They're over $100 or so, too!
Racing Beat/Ultra - Many people like them, but I'm not that hot on them. They're VERY pricey (well over $100) and the boots are very thin and easy to tear. The fitment is good, though. Spend half the price on Magnecors for a far more rugged wire that fits just as well.
Cheap parts store wires - avoid. Fitment is usually horrible, and the metal clips in the wires break off easily.
Accel - they may have changed, but the last ones I saw were SUPER long, way longer than they should have been. Construction and fitment seemed to be good, though.
Anyhow, that's my 2 cents. If you're on a budget, or just need some wires for the beater, get the stock NGK's. If it's your baby, get the Magnecors. If you can't deal with the red color of the Magnecors, I think the Taylor wires are available in blue and black and might be worth checking into.

I have MSD's, reasonable price. Cheaper than magnecor if I remember correctly? The boots fit nice and tight, the wires have a heat shield wrapped around the wire, which is already well insulated (double protection). Nice wires all around. I got them from Summit.

what? accel wires suck! i had a set on my car when i bought them... i found a receipt for them in my glove box and it showed them to be 1.5 years old... i went to pull the boot off from the plug wire and the boot clip thingy broke off and was left on the spark plug... stupid crappy wires.
NGKs are fine for me. They are 50 bucks canadian, they have this plastic sheild wrapper around them... they fit nice too.

back a few months ago i took my car to the dyno with some buddys they where both using magnacore 10 MM wires and i had the jacobs 8.5 wires but neways the guy got discusted when he looked under the hoods of my buddys when he saw the wires he says that those wire are impossible to get a signal from ( for the RPM of the motor) but he tried neways and could get a reading at all (very very well insulated ) and he found a signal from my wires fairly easly (so teh jacobs arent insulated as wel) and after wards we were BSing and i asked him about MSD wires and he laughed at me and said that when you get eth sensor close the an engine bay with those he startes getting readings. and he also told me that he will NOT even put the snesor on nology wires cause they will cause damage to it
I have the Magnecor 10mm, and they have treated me great. The interference I had with the Borg-Warner pieces of S**t that I had before is gone, and I seem to have a bit more power now. Of course, I did change the plugs too, but these wires are much, much better.
