Look under the car and you'll know if it has a dp.

They sell this stuff at pep boys, that suppose to make any car pass emissions if you run it in your tank...search and read thru all the BS, you'll find what I'm talking about. Sorry I'm not more help.

Oh and I'll trade you rims, if you want to sell the car stock

a downpipe will pass the smog test. The only way it could fail is if the inspector knows its a dp instead of the precat. most dont know, unless is s/s. I guess thats one advantage of mild steel.

I believe this car is in bay area coz I think I saw that car on freeway before. If it is, its hard to pass the smog in CA legally. I think you need to find out real problem. Post more background of your car, may be causes by your mod. Most of the problem that I think is you took out the cat or the downpipe.

When you get on the rollers, ask the guy to make sure he leaves it in 2nd gear when he goes up to 25. If he puts it into 3rd it will not pass. You have to keep the RPMs up to activate the Air Pump. No Air Pump, no pass.

Downpipe shouldn't be a problem - My last FD only had an exhaust & downpipe and had no problems passing visual or the sniffer. My diagnosis is a main catalytic converter problem and/or maybe a failing airpump...find someone who can loan you a new cat and/or airpump. A new high flow cat is considerably cheaper than the stock...

...but figure out what's the culprit before spending any $$$.

Good luck

Also get in the car with the guy, if you have a boost gauge and MAKE SURE he does not get into boost as the fuel maps drastically richen when the car gets into boost. I live in chicago, and passed with 70k an intake and a downpipe, and I made sure the guy didnt get into boost
