Question Turbo Manifold Question

Hello Everyone. I just finished a 13B4Port with Turbo2 rotors. I have a Webber 48mm sidedraft ,Garrett T04 turbo, and a front mount intercooler on it, to mention a few things. Well, my question is sometimes when I drive the car for a while and drive it pretty hard the turbo manifold gets a glowing red. Just so everyone knows I am running 6 pounds of boost. I understand the red manifold usually means the motor is running lean, but my air fuel gauge reads rich when I'm on the gas and stoich/rich at idle like it's supposed to. If anyone could possibly tell me why the red manifold and anything to remedy it I would greatly appreciate it.

May want to throw this question around in the 2nd Gen forum too. Lots of guys can there have TIIs and can tell you what you may have to do to work this problem.

Also ... just to throw this out to you, your manifold can glow when you run rich just as well.
Just out of curiosity, when do you observe this? At idle? On a dyno? Right after a hard run? Right after you shut the motor down?
My take is as long as you have your AFR device correctly installed and working, then I would say just believe what it tells you. The only other thing would maybe be to get an EGT gauge (though it may be overkill) so you know for sure how much your temps are.

Another idea ... which plugs do you use with your setup?

Hey, who did your front mount intercooler? I have an 84GS with a Cartech air to water unit that I would like to replace with an air to air. Was your system bolt it?

Stock T-II manifolds and turbos glow with some heavy driving too. Just a by product of more heat from making more power. If you were glowing at idle I'd be a little concerned but otherwise normal.
