Do I fit in an FD?
Do I fit in an FD?
I know this has been asked before.. but the search is busted, so I figured I'd just ask it again.
I know it's a relatively small car, and I've never had the chance to sit in one.. I'm 6'3 and some change and ~280lbs.. I'm one big sob.. is an RX7 realistic for me as a daily driver?
It's kind of ironic.. according to Edmunds, the RX7 actually has more leg room than my 01 Nissan Altima, but I'm just kind of concerned about getting my head and gut into the car, heh.

And I thought that I was big!!
Damn, you some big dudes!! I'm 6ft 225lbs and I fit. Although I have to put the seat pretty far back and recline it so my head doesn't hit the roof (I have a longer upper body).
So I would say that it is just a matter of what you think is comftorable. I used to drive a mustang and I consider this car to have much less room in it.
Between that and the fact that you cannot put your arm on the window sill, it can be a little uncomftorable but you get used to it!! Mine fits me like a glove now that I have everything the way I like it.
If you used to drive a newer camero or a corvett and think that they are comftorable, you will have no problem with the RX-7, about the same amount of room.

I'm 6'3" and 200lbs, light compared to you giants, but getting in is simple. Getting my right leg out from under the column is the hardest part about exiting the car. Who cares though, for it is worth the struggle by far...

Headroom with a helmet on is also scarce, forcing you to recline the seat more than you would like, and end up with your arms a little too far from the wheel than you're used too. I've successfully shaved out areas of the bottom seat cushion foam to gain at least 3/4" headroom without even having it show in the upholstery.

Buy a Mack truck and haul your *** to the gym. Better yet, skip in the Mack truck (and the sandwiches of similar namesake) and run to the gym.
These threads crack me up. It's amazing how the small-***** syndrome makes people totally overlook their fat assness.

My mate is 6'2" and 308lbs (overweight
) and he fits in a Nissan Silvia S13 which is smaller than an FD but with the seat all the way back. Isn't that easy for him to get into, but compared to that an FD wouldn't be a problem.

I have a friend just a little bigger than that, I had to have him open the passenger door and lean out so I could let the e-brake down.
Everyone is different. My suggestion is that if you want to know if you will fit into an FD? Go try it! Just find one close and see if you fit.
6'1" and 150 pounds (hehe, im a freaking beanstalk) and fit fine in my RX-7. un/fortunatley i own an FC so i think i get a little more room than you guys (not sure) but i DO get tilt steer.

A floor mounted race seat may be what you need. All you need is the resourcefulness to find a way to do that cleanly (something I was unable to do when trying to mount a Sparco America in my car for a few years until I decided to sell it and shave the seat bottom foam).
