Looks nice. You going to cover the vents with a mesh or anything?

I hadn't planned on covering the vents with mesh, but I know that i'll have to be careful that some idiot doesn't throw some trash in there. Plus anyone can pop the hood open anytime they want, which was something I tried to avoid with locking hood pins, but unfortunatly they didn't work.

I paid $575 for the hood, which included the shipping. I installed it myself along with drilling holes for the hood pins. I used bondo on a couple spots around the edges where it had been chipped...nothing major. And paid a shop to prime, paint, and bake the hood for $250. I sold my old hood for about what it cost to have it painted. So overall I feel like a got a great deal, it looks flawless, weighs 7lbs lighter than stock, vents are bigger than the mazdaspeed, and cost a lot less.

only thing I don't like is how far the vents go down...too drastic for me but i still like it and yours looks exceptionally good! Price sounds good too

You can buy hood pins that use a key to open the hood. The set I had didn't work because the bolts weren't long enough to hold the hood down. Maybe i'll find some locking hood pins that will work and replace the clip pins I have on their now.

I actually don't think CF will look ricey on a black car. Given that there were some chips and what not, paint it was a good idea. Is the 7 lb weight savings prior to painting it or after? CF is wickly light. Nice work dude!

Thanks, I actually drove it around for about a week before I got it painted and on black it didn't look too bad. But I still didn't care for it. The 7lbs was prior to painting, but I can't imagine the paint adding a whole lot of weight to it.

You would be suprised how much paint weighs. I have a Black R1 and I was wondering how those hoods would look with the stock front end and all. I like it. Carbon Fiber has too much of a Brownish color and on a Black car, it just looks faded. Great job and Great price.
